The short answer: start with Facebook groups, which are free and carry 70% of public Quebec casting calls. If you do background work, add a lifetime or yearly registration for under $25. And only pay for a subscription once it shows you casting calls that fit you.

In the Castflow 2026 study, half of the 239 respondents spent more than $500 a year on their career, and 93 described platform subscriptions. Yet a paid platform was the source of the last project for only 5% of them (10% of those without an agency). So we looked at where casting calls really appear.

Where do Quebec casting calls appear?

From September 11 to October 19, 2026, Castflow's feed saw 451 public casting calls whose text names a place in Quebec. 315 of them, or 70%, came from Facebook groups and pages.

SourceQuebec casting callsShare
Facebook groups28764%
Casting Networks5212%
Figurants Extras296%
Facebook pages286%
Casting Workbook (public board)235%
Backstage102%
Instagram82%
9 other sources143%

Two limits to keep in mind. This feed only sees public calls: those casting directors send only to agents are not in it. It shows where an actor without an agency can find a casting call. And 485 Facebook posts named no place and are not counted, so Facebook's share is, if anything, underestimated.

The most active groups in the feed: Casting Montréal, Casting & Figurations Québec, Montreal Actors and Comédies Musicales Québec.

Prices in Canadian dollars unless marked US$. Casting Workbook, Voilà Casting, IMDbPro and Project Casting do not state the currency on their public page. Backstage, Mandy and StarNow show promotional prices that may vary. "Not measured": the platform blocks public reading of its calls, or Castflow does not read it yet.

Which one should you choose?

You are starting out or mostly doing background work, without an agency

  • Quebec Facebook groups: free, and where 54% of beginners in the study found their last project.
  • Figuration Julie Breton: $20 once. The company is paid by productions and takes no cut of your pay.
  • MFK Casting: $23 a year for non-members, with a free year if you did not work during your registration year.
  • Figurants Extras, if you want calls in one place: $52 a year after a 30-day trial. Automatic renewal; refunds only from December 15 to 31.

You are going for roles, without an agency

  • Facebook groups, again: 38% of actors without an agency in the study found their last project there.
  • Casting Workbook LITE (free): a profile casting directors can see, and access to roles they open to self-represented talent.
  • Casting Networks Premium, only if your budget allows: it showed the most Quebec calls after Facebook, but submitting on your own costs US$29.99 a month.

You have an agency

Casting Workbook is where agents submit profiles. It is the subscription most often paid in the study (51 mentions, usually $100 to $150 a year). Before upgrading to PRO, ask your agent whether the free plan is enough for them.

You do voice work

Voilà Casting, from the Mezzo plan ($14.99 a month): the $11.99 Écono plan does not let you audition. The first month is free.

You act in English

The Quebec Drama Federation (membership from $0, general auditions usually in December) and Actors Access, whose "Quebec" filter mostly shows pan-Canadian calls.

What the platforms don't advertise

  • Casting Networks: on the free plan, only your agent can submit you. Submitting yourself requires Premium.
  • Voilà Casting: the cheapest plan does not let you audition.
  • Backstage, Mandy and StarNow have belonged to the same company since 2021, and their calls overlap. At Backstage, the monthly plan is non-refundable.
  • Project Casting: all sales are final.
  • IMDbPro posts no casting calls: it is an industry directory.
  • One rule for all: no serious platform asks you to pay to get a role. A subscription gives you access to calls, never to a contract.

How we built this comparison

  • Casting calls counted: Castflow's public feed, September 11 to October 19, 2026. Only calls whose text names a place in Quebec are counted. For MFK and Total Casting, these are their Facebook and Instagram pages.
  • Prices: read on each platform's official page on October 19, 2026, without an account or login.
  • Declared subscriptions: Castflow 2026 study, 239 respondents, 93 of whom described their subscriptions.
  • A declared interest: Castflow gathers casting calls from all these sources for actors, so we have an interest in showing they are scattered. That is why every price and figure comes with its source.
