Raine is a stubborn and blunt 17-year-old who hides her deep anger and vulnerability behind bold humour and a “mean” exterior. Forced to grow up too soon, she has learned to rely on herself and keep others at a distance, making her an outsider in her hometown. Despite dreaming of escaping to a bigger city and becoming someone entirely different, she feels trapped by her family’s financial struggles and the belief that she will never leave. Raine convinces herself she can survive anything, but when it comes to her best friend, Tristan, the one person she truly cares about, her guarded exterior begins to crack. Trying to forget about a violent crime scene Raine was involved in, her psyche begins to deteriorate, leaving her questioning what is real and what is fabricated in her own mind.
